new pots and fall

A few new pots.

I’ve been working on creating depth in my surface without overwhelming the detail in the form. I am having so much fun playing with some white goldĀ  luster and these precious little floral decals.I have loved English china for a long time and am finally getting an element of what i love so much about it; the small details that give intimacy to a piece.

I’m trying to work on taking my images with this glossy clear glaze without getting

I have been also using some new colorants for my slips. I ordered from US pigments and found some really great deals on some pretty expensive mason stains. I’m excited to get them in the mail, but in the meantime I am using some that were given to me a while ago, like this orange shown above. This new color really gets me excited about Fall.

i’ll let you know about the mason stains, the prices seem almost to good to be true.

    hey there annie,

does your road really look like that already? fall is starting to show around here, only slowly though. so glad you are settling in well in your new studio.

all in the details, right? love the new work.

wanted to tell you a new secret i learned for getting rid of glare on your photographs of pots. instead of two side lights and lightbox above with diffusers like I’ve always used, try using the lightbox, one side light with diffusers, but on the other side use an aluminum reflector. (cover a piece of cardboard with crinkled up aluminum foil, you can use spray mount. go ahead and make it about the same size as you made your diffusers. then prop it up on that opposite side just as you would prop a diffuser if you had that extra side light on. what it does is bounces the light reflecting back on to the piece, as well as lighting up the dark foot area… ahhh… magic, try it, it really works!!

    did you email cheryl?
